The European-spec 2018 Kia Stinger will hit dealer lots during the fourth quarter of this year.
Introducing the all-new 2018 Kia Stinger. Kia’s GT Concept Car come to life as a true Grand Touring vehicle, complete with rear- or all-wheel drive, luxury amenities, and head-turning design. Its Kia redefined.
To bring the 2018 Kia Stinger to life, Kia Motors’ chief design officer Peter Schreyer turned to his design team in Frankfurt. The 2018 Kia Stinger made a striking impression at the North American International Auto Show with two top awards. Heart-pounding performance.
The base engine is a 255-hp 2.0-liter turbo four; a 365-hp 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 is optional. Driver aids include adaptive cruise, automated emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.
Kia has been dropping broad hints about its plan to produce a rear-wheel-drive sedan for years. The Stinger gets an eight-speed automatic transmission, with buyers able to choose between rear- and all-wheel drive. LED lighting is standard front and rear.
Although it is being pitched as a rival to existing compact sports sedans, the Stinger is bigger than any of the cars Kia cites as competitors. At 190.2 inches in length, its 4.1 inches longer than the Audi A4 and 5.7 inches longer than the Mercedes-Benz C-class, while the Stinger’s 114.4-inch wheelbase is also longer than any of its rivals. The Kia’s roofline is lower, however, and its overall height of just 55.1 inches makes it 0.2 inch shorter than a C-class coupe.
The optional all-wheel-drive system features torque vectoring, while the rear-drive version has a standard limited-slip differential.
The Stinger is constructed from mostly conventional materials, with Kia saying the chassis uses 55 percent high-strength steel.

The 2018 Kia Stinger looks to be the answer to nearly every enthusiast’s dream—a rear-wheel drive compact sedan at a price that will, presumably, undercut the BMW 3-Series and the Cadillac ATS.
With the Stinger, Kia enters territory that is new for the Korean brand. All-wheel drive will be available on the Stinger, but a mechanical limited slip differential on rear-drive models speaks to the sedan’s athletic mission. The Stinger’s front suspension consists of Macpherson struts up front and a multi-link setup out back. It is the Stinger’s shape that Kia hopes will attract buyers.
The long and chiseled hood reaches back into a raked windshield and athletic rear haunches that underscore the car’s rear-drive design. Inside, nappa leather, a thick leather-wrapped steering wheel, and large gauges ringed in metal speak to the Stinger’s luxury mission. In the Stinger’s center stack, it will feature an updated version of the automaker’s infotainment system and an available 15-speaker, 720-watt audio system branded by Harman/Kardon.
